Position Summary:Under the leadership of the Controller, the Accountant I is an active member of the General Accounting team that delivers professional accounting services and support that is consistent with the strategic vision, goals, philosophy and direction of General Accounting and CRHS. The Accountant I maintains the general ledger work flow and enters general ledger data into the general ledger system.This position prepares and retains the work papers supporting the general ledger accounts.This position reconciles assigned hospital accounts and prepares work papers for outside auditors. Basic Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or a GED state certification. An Associate's degree in Accounting is preferred.
One to two years of work-related experience in accounting or bookkeeping or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience preferred.Experience in healthcare accounting and automated systems is preferred.

This job does not require any licenses, registrations or certifications.Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains CRHS's assigned General Ledger accounts and prepares daily analysis of information and reports (i.e. Daily Flash Report, Unbilled Activity) for Department heads.
- Prepares and makes general ledger entries into the general ledger system for key non-patient charges for client billing (e.g. pharmacy and purchasing) or for other assigned general ledger accounts.
- Prepares and retains the work papers supporting the general ledger accounts assigned and prepares reports as needed.
- Performs monthly timely bank reconciliations for assigned CRHS facilities.
- Prepares work papers for the outside auditors and performs any other tasks requested in relationship to the annual audit.
- Prepares regular detail analysis and reporting of Agency and Indigent Care costs.
- Ensures all accounting entries are made in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and CRHS policy.
- Complies with all CRHS privacy policies and procedures including those implementing the HIPAA Privacy rule
- Works on special projects deemed necessary by the Controller or CFO
- Attends in-service training, education programs and meetings as required or directed.
- Adheres to established CRHS and departmental policies, procedures and objectives for quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
