Allegheny East Conference is seeking an accountant in the Finance Department applying conventional practices and specific rules, regulations or procedures to perform a full range of related accounting and budget assignments. Requires analysis development and/or testing of a variety of established techniques and methods to evaluate alternatives and arrive at decision, conclusions and recommendations. Some examples of duties include, but are not limited to:
Process and receipt incoming money for fund.Process journal vouchers (JV's) for quarterly closing. Process and reconcile cash and bank statements.Assign account numbers.Calculate unit distributions, prepare worksheets and final report.Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to general ledgers for accounts having a variety of transactions. Reconcile detailed listing of outstanding transactions to general ledger accounts.QUALIFICATIONS- Must acknowledge and accept the principles, beliefs and practices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and be a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing.
- Expert knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Solid organizational skills, especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details.
- Ability to multi-task while working independently or within a group environment.
- Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of internal controls and how they are used to manage risk.
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Office, accounting software and databases.
EDUCATION/TRAININGBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area which included coursework in accounting.
EXPERIENCETwo years of accounting experience. Accounting software and technology experience required.
