The Neon Museum is a nationally accredited non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying and exhibiting iconic Las Vegas signs for educational, historic, arts and cultural enrichment. On our 2+ acre campus, the Museum offers an outdoor exhibition space known as the Neon Boneyard; the North Gallery, home to the 360 o light and sound experience Brilliant! Jackpot ; and an awe-inspiring visitors' center inside the historic lobby of the former La Concha Motel. Public and K-12 education, community outreach and engagement, research, and arts preservation represent a selection of our many ongoing projects. Welcoming 200,000-plus visitors annually, the Museum has received numerous national accolades and extensive recognition as a Las Vegas treasure. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities This position performs an array of bookkeeping duties and provides support to the Director of Finance. The role includes responsibility and accountability in accurate posting of all accounts receivable. Communicates interdepartmentally to ensure revenues are approved and accurately posted against the General Ledger. Assists with preparing monthly reports for the Museum's Finance Committee and provides additional clerical duties as assigned. •Accounts receivable: Records checks and cash in QuickBooks; classifies, records and summarizes numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records. •Performs journal entries on a daily basis. •Pulls reports as needed in the company's reservation system (Tessitura) and events management system (Momentus) reconcile accounts. •Pulls reports as needed in credit card processing systems (Adyen and Stripe) to reconcile accounts. •Closing out daily banking batches on a daily basis. •Processes bank deposits on a weekly basis. •Checks figures, postings and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper codes. •Performs technical accounting activities involving the reconciling and auditing of deposits and accounts; assists in budget preparation and review; prepares fiscal reports and special reports; reviews for accuracy, completeness and adherence to established policies and procedures. •Compiles statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports and tables on assigned topics, including the operating budget, cash receipts, accounts receivable and profits and losses. •Processes incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries. •Attends educational and training opportunities as assigned. •Other duties as assigned. Requirements Skills and Competencies •Requires consistent and punctual attendance. •Requires knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting practices and procedures. •Requires ability to manage and protect confidential information. •Requires basic proficiency in math and finance. •Requires proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to adapt to new software as required. •Requires critical thinking ability. •Requires good oral and written communication skills and ability to actively listen. •Requires organizational skills, an ability to manage multiple projects, and an ability to plan and prioritize work. •Requires consistent attention to detail. •Requires ability to maintain focus despite occasional interruptions. Education and Qualifications (required and preferred) •Requires Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and three years' experience in accounts receivable/payable. •Requires knowledge of office administration and office supply management. •Requires consistent accuracy, attention to detail and ability to meet schedules and deadlines. •Requires intermediate to advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, presentations, internet navigation, word processing, including mail merging, label and letter making. •Requires customer service skills. •Requires ability to function as a member of a team. Working Conditions •Ability to work indoors in a climate-controlled environment, sitting / standing for long periods of time. •Ability to lift 35 pounds. •Valid clean driver's license and use of a car.
