Job Description:

Our client, a high growth real estate technology firm is looking for an Accountant (Contract) to assist them in their New York City headquarters. To succeed in this role, you will need to be a team player that wants to share ideas and mentor other team members. This role will require you to do a blend of day to day accounting and presenting of financial reports to executive leadership. The role is a great opportunity for some who wants experience working for a fast growing organization in the complex real estate industry.

Responsibilities:

* Review and maintain property level financials on a large scale portfolio

* Assist in reviewing month-end, quarterly and year end financials

* Support audit process, working with auditors to ensure accurate financials with robust support

* Maintain and update monthly accrual postings

* Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports

* Maintain and update accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures

* Achieve profitability by controlling expenses and looking for ways to reduce costs

* Oversee cash flows and provide support

* Advise Executive Leadership on the financial costs to assist with decision making

* Communicate with vendors to ensure timely accounts payable

* Maintain an up-to-date accounts receivable schedule and communicate receipts to applicable parties

Qualifications:

* 5+ years of accounting experience

* Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Organized, personable, and professional

* Must be hands on while maintaining focus on the bigger picture

* Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

* Attention to detail and accuracy in processing information

* Knowledge of accounting theory and concepts

* Able to work independently and take ownership of deliverables and deadlines

* Proficient in MS-Office Suite (Excel, Word)

* Experience in real estate industry (BONUS)

* Experience with Buildium (BONUS)
