This position will be located on the Glenns campus.

Reporting to the Business Manager, the Accountant plays a critical role in managing the financial aspects of the student experience. The core responsibilities are focused on maintaining accurate student financial accounts, managing accounts receivables, collections and reporting compliance. Duties typically include invoicing students and third -party accounts, maintaining the college tuition and fees schedule, acting as liaison to Financial Aid, performing backouts, preparing military billings and local billings, processing student refunds, posting financial aid awards, reconciling scholarship awards, preparing month-end journal entries, treasury management, balancing daily cash transactions for deposit, reconciling bank accounts, and safeguarding the integrity of student account information.
Additionally, this position plays a critical role in ensuring that students understand and meet their financial obligations. The Accountant empowers students by giving them the knowledge and tools needed to handle their financial matters responsibly during their academic journey. Overall, this position plays a vital role in delivering quality customer service to students, staff, parents and community members while adhering to college policies and regulations related to billing, payment, refunding, and confidentiality. The incumbent ensures the smooth financial operations of the college by managing student accounts accurately and efficiently. This position also serves as the backup for the Workforce Accountant and cross trains on all related duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
* Strong knowledge of and experience in accounts receivable, billing, and cash
* Experience preparing journal entries
* Experience with year-end audits and the preparation of A/R schedules
* Knowledge of processing web payments
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to work independently and in a team setting
* Strong customer service and communication skills
* Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
* High proficiency in Excel and Word
Preferred Qualifications:
* Advanced experience preparing student billings, and deferred revenue
* Strong knowledge of scholarships, financial aid and return to Title IV processing
