Position Summary
As an Accountant in BFS, you will be responsible for supporting DHS divisions banking needs. Responsibilities include:
* Facilitating divisions and facilities banking requests and coordinating requests with banks and the Department of Administration (DOA).
* Providing fiscal support and training to Wisconsin counties/consortia for reporting requirements needed in cost allocation plans for federal reimbursement of administrative costs.
* Performing other cost allocations including allocating expenses and billing for services across DHS divisions.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $28.91-$31.61 per hour, based upon experience and education, and includes excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as an Accountant and is in pay schedule and range is 07/04.
An additional hourly add-on of up to $0.50 may be available for CPA certification.
Job Details
* All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
* For positions that allow remote working flexibility, working outside of Wisconsin or in bordering cities will not be allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location in Wisconsin on short notice.
* Employees must have access to secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee's headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.
* DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
* A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in accounting or an Associate's Degree in accounting and 2 years of equivalent work-related accounting experience or 3 years of equivalent work-related accounting experience (e.g., managerial/cost accounting, fiscal report analysis, auditing, etc.).
* Training or experience using computer programs such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access to organize, manage, and analyze data.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
* Training or experience using automated financial or accounting systems (e.g., Peoplesoft) to create fiscal reports, process fiscal transactions, prepare financial statements, etc
* Experience working in the banking industry performing tasks such as establishing bank accounts and payment processing.
* Training or experience working with cost allocation principles or processes.
* A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in accounting.
