Accountant

Job Summary:

We are a premier food manufacturing company here in Idaho Falls looking for a skilled and driven Accountant to oversee our accounting activities, including preparing financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, general cost accounting, accounts payables, receivables and other related financial activities. The ideal candidate will have experience with ERP systems and possess a strong financial background within a food manufacturing or related industry. This position comes with immense growth potential and we're looking for someone who would want to grow into a controller position.

Reports to: General Manager

Duties/Responsibilities:

* Perform general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.

* Prepare periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.

* Maintain the general ledger.

* Code invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.

* Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.

* Reconcile customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.

* Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.

* Provide outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.

* File required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.

* Coordinate with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.

* Collaborate with company departments regarding inventory purchasing and assist in strategizing ordering inventory, sourcing and delivery times.

* Ensure necessary check runs are made in a timely manner.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

* Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.

* Understanding of and ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

* Highly proficient with ERP accounting software (Global, Sage or Oracle).

* Extensive knowledge of Cost Modeling within a manufacturing environment.

* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.

* Three (3+) or more years of accounting experience required.

Physical Requirements:

* Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

* Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Salary: $75,000- $95,000 annually DOE
