Senior Property Accountant Job Description We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant to develop and implement commercial property and commercial parking operations accounting procedures and monthly close process. You will review general ledgers, process journal entries, and prepare monthly accruals. Additionally, you will prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for properties in a timely manner, and handle bank and other balance sheet reconciliations, debt and equity draws, and project cash positions. Responsibilities Develop and implement accounting procedures and monthly close process for commercial property and parking operations. Review general ledgers, process journal entries, and prepare monthly accruals. Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for properties. Prepare monthly bank and other balance sheet reconciliations. Monitor and manage monthly debt and equity draws and project cash positions. Approve and process accounts payable disbursements as needed. Ensure compliance with mortgage loan covenants and reporting requirements. Assist in the preparation of local, state, and federal tax returns with consultation from an outside accounting firm as necessary. Assist in annual financial statement audits and reviews performed by an outside CPA firm. Assist in the preparation of joint venture and consolidated financial statements. Coordinate the workflow of the Lease Administrator, including application of A/R adjustments and daily cash receipts. Assist property management staff with the preparation of annual budget packages and monthly and quarterly variance analysis to the budget. Supervise property accountant and other junior staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills 4-8 years of experience in commercial property accounting. Proficiency with Yardi. Advanced Excel skills (Vlookup, SumIF, Macros, Pivot Tables). Experience with accruals, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and balance sheets. In-depth knowledge of US GAAP. Understanding of property management in relation to financial accounting, recoveries, budgeting, and forecasting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required. CPA is a plus but not required. Minimum of 2 years of commercial real estate accounting experience required. Experience with MRI preferred. Work Environment The work schedule is Monday to Friday during normal business hours, with flexibility on reporting times (e.g., come early, leave early). This is an on-site position with flexibility for personal events or appointments to work remotely.
