Requisition No: 838373 Agency: Management Services Working Title: PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT - 72002617 Pay Plan: Career Service Position Number: 72002617 Salary: $55,000 - $58,000 Posting Closing Date: 01/02/2025 Total Compensation Estimator Tool Professional Accountant Division of Retirement/Business Support Services State of Florida Department of Management Services This position is located in Tallahassee, FL Position Overview and Responsibilities: As a Professional Accountant, you will perform the daily transfer of retirement contributions to the State Board of Administration. Perform daily processing of retirement contributions, invoices, recouping overpayments, remitting federal withholding taxes, drawdowns and other related duties. Specific key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Remit federal withholding taxes for monthly and supplemental retiree payrolls and report to the Bureau of Benefit Payments. Process receipts, as assigned Calculate and process daily transfer of retirement contributions to the State Board of Administration and maintain tracking spreadsheet. Assist participating agencies with payment of retirement contributions. Assist retirement system members in submitting payment; including corresponding with provider companies for pre-tax direct rollovers as authorized by members and providing outstanding balances. Prepare account reconciliations, as assigned. Assist Division of Retirement staff with accounting-related issues as needed. Respond to emails and phone calls timely and accurately. Monitor benefit overpayment invoices and generate recovery letters as needed. Track and report benefit overpayments as directed. Work closely with the Office of General Counsel on invoices over $2,000. Perform other related duties or assists other areas within the Division as directed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles. Ability to work independently. Ability to analyze accounting data or information. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to gather information. Ability to use personal computer and 10-key calculator. Ability to record accounting transactions accurately. Knowledge of processing revenue or other accounting transactions. Knowledge of Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to manage complex accounting processes and data systems. Ability to analyze processes and implement changes. Ability to interact professionally with management, co-workers, and customers.
