The Sr. Accountant Inventory Accounting is responsible to oversee and manage the inventory and inventory reserve balances in the GL. This position will also coordinate the reconciliation of monthly inventory analytics, provide forecasts and budget details as needed, manage inventory valuations and reserve calculations. The positions is also responsible to review and record journal entries during month-end closing, Inventory and Inventory reserve account reconciliations and management of the Aged Inventory reserve calculations. Liaison with the business to ensure accuracy of reserves and other inventory related expenses. Adhoc Inventory reconciliations as needed. What youll be doing: ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Inventory GL/Reserves: Monitor all Inventory transactions in the general ledger Perform Analytics of Monthly Shrink expense and other inventory expenses in the PL Ensure transactions related to inventory are posted timely and accurately Investigate any variances in GM related to the cost of inventory weighted average cost/FIFO Analyze, interpret and develop monthly inventory activity reports for all related inventory transactions Oversee all Inventory Reserves to ensure proper reserves are recorded monthly Liaison with multiple business partners in calculating and reviewing the Aged Inventory, Customer Service and Reverse Logistics Inventory Reserves Physical Inventory and Cycle Counts: Perform detail analysis into possible causes of shrinkage and ship inventory results, make recommendations based on results of analysis Ensure PIs, Cycle Counts and Inventory Adj. are posted in the GL timely and accurately perform accruals as needed Attend the DC physical Inventory and liaison with the Inventory Supervisor to perform audits of counts and review the reconciliation of the results Consignment Vendor Reconciliations: Oversee the consignment vendor reconciliation process to ensure the reconciliations are aligned to the GL balances Ensure reconciliations are done on a regular basis as stated on the vendors agreement Reconcile the GL associated to the Consignment vendors and ensure balances are correct Work closely with the AP Manager and Inventory Supervisor to maintain the Periodic Activity current and accurate Accounting Close: Prepare and book monthly journal entries related to shrink, inventory on hand and inventory reserves Follow by Performing Account Reconciliations for assigned accounts and support to General Ledger Audit: Responsible for internal and external audit requirements related to inventory, inventory shrink and inventory reserves Ensure compliance with internal control guidelines related to inventory, if applicable Liaison with the Asset Protection team and Inventory Supervisor on improvements to processes ADHOC: Complete ADHOC financial analysis related to inventory as requested, and partner with other departments to implement new policies and educate everyone on the companys policies and procedures as it pertains to Inventory. What were looking for: QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Finance/Accounting. Preferred Education & Experience: Some Inventory Management Experience preferre Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Understand different types of Inventory methods FIFO and Weighted Average cost Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Specially MS Excel) Ability to work at fast pace, processing large volume if numerical data Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to thrive in a diverse, collaborative, team-oriented environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Decision Making: Duties and activities reviewed periodically. Supervisor monitors work progress and determines actions on unusual items. Moderate level of problem solving ability. Travel Requirements: 10% or less travel required Other: Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkSome flexibility in hours is permitted, employee must be available during the core work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday Friday and must work 30 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Physical Demands: Office environment with frequent sitting, walking and standing, occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling use of office machinery. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Oral and auditory enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication automated devise such as the telephone.
