Services are available to community members living on and off-reservation across the state of Maine.The purpose of this position is to ensures proper processes and internal controls are followed to maximize efficiency, compliance, and integrity within the accounting system. Provides updates related to spreadsheets, files, and reports as needed. Works with the other fiscal staff to meet required deadlines of activities and supports supervisor to implement systems improvements.Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages financial transactions
- Manages disbursement and receipting of federal draws
- Assists with the reporting of financial information
- Handles correspondence and maintains files
- Assists Accountant with financial statements, estimates, summaries, and other financial analyses and management reports
- Assists with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Reconcile bank statements; and review outstanding checks
- Prepares data and assists with the annual audit
- Ensure practices are GAAP and MAAP compliant and comply with federal, state, and local regulations
- Post journal entries through appropriate procedures
- Assists in maintaining all Event accounting records
- Maintain company credit cards and records
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications/Skills
- Three (3) years of combined higher-level education and/or experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial planning and analysis or other financial activities required
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Ability to maintain process according to federal and state regulations.
- Capable of producing various financial reports from interpreting and analyzing data.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to problem solve and analyze information
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to maintain high levels of confidentiality
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional, courteous, and positive manner
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
