Job Summary:

The Accounting Analyst collaborates and works closely with the respective country program Finance Managers and Regional Finance Officers to ensure accounting and financial functions are in accordance with GAAP, CRS finance policies and procedures. This position ensures that CRS' country program financial data is complete and accurate. This position provides regular financial and accounts analysis and is responsible for a portfolio of 7 - 10 countries.

Roles and Key Responsibilities

* Perform detailed account analysis, identify issues, coordinate resolutions, and recommend improvements as needed.

* Identify areas of risk in financial operations based on trend analysis and provide recommendations for mitigation.

* Conduct cost allocation monitoring and analysis. Ensure compliance with foreign exchange rate accounting.

* Provide Finance Managers with analysis and technical support, assistance with adherence to CRS' policies and procedures and answering any direct inquires.

* Identify issues that need to be resolved during the month end closure and determine an action plan.

* Support Country Programs in preparation of external audits and fund accounting statements relating to any accounting issues.

* Support the Financial Statement audit process for Country Programs in reviewing and from account analysis perspective.

* Analyze monthly and quarterly expense fluctuations to ensure proper accounting treatment.

* Monitor discretionary and temporary restricted projects. Ensure proper set up, spending remains within the project budgets and timely closure.

* Perform temporary assignments to assist Country Programs with staff capacity building, resolving major accounting issues as well as gain an understanding of Country Program's day-to-day accounting activities including transaction processing and month end close.

* Provide feedback to Regional Finance Officers and Country Representatives and identify staff training needs to increase financial capacity.

* Contribute to the development and maintenance of systems and tools to improve financial analysis and management processes.

* Support and participate in design, development of training materials and conduct trainings on accounting and financial management to Finance Managers.

* Maintain knowledge on USG rules and regulations.

* Provide mentorship to CP and HQ Staff on accounting and financial management.

Qualifications:

* Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting or related field. Master's degree preferred.

* Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting (multiple countries) experience.

* Strong knowledge of all MS Office programs required. Knowledge of Oracle preferred.

* Knowledge and experience in GAAP.

* Knowledge of U.S. Government regulations for non-profit organizations, and other major public donor financial regulations.

* Audit experience is a plus.

* Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

* Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects concurrently under deadline pressure and changing priorities in a high-volume setting.

* Strong analytical/problem solving skills and advanced accounting knowledge.

* Ability to recognize the need to elevate issues to the appropriate team members.

* Desire to work in a collaborative, proactive, and multicultural team environment, but able to work independently. Ability to maintain strong customer service.

* Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to train financial and non-financial staff of all levels.

* Willingness to work additional hours during critical implementation periods.

Language Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken English; French and Spanish is preferred.

Travel Requirements: International travel up to 15% expected travel time to field offices and partner/project sites.
