Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator I, Supervisor, this position is part of the Travel Claims Unit within the Travel Office Division. The Travel Claims Unit is responsible for processing revolving fund payments, managing Travel Expense Claims (TECs) manually or through CalATERS Global, training Cal OES staff on travel rules and procedures, maintaining the CalATERS Global system (including profiles and tables), and assisting with quarterly travel trainings. As a lead in the Travel Claims Unit, the incumbent will provide guidance and support to team members to ensure the accurate and timely processing of TECs and related tasks. This role involves applying a strong understanding of state and federal laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to travel and reimbursement to ensure compliance and provide guidance to staff. The incumbent will use their extensive FI$Cal experience to navigate system complexities, ensure vouchers are correctly posted, process U.S. Bank payments on time and troubleshoot issues. The incumbent will also use strong writing and communication skills to prepare clear and concise reports, communications, and training materials for the public, Cal OES employees, and personnel from other agencies. The role involves analyzing situations to make informed decisions, demonstrating initiative, resourcefulness, and sound judgment, while independently managing tasks and collaborating effectively with the team. Working Conditions Telework - This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes up to two days of remote work per week.
