Job Description:
Position SummaryThe Accounting Associate position will support various general accounting, treasury, and financial reporting duties associated with Axcelus Financial and various affiliate entities.Responsibilities
  • Daily maintenance of the companies' bank account activity:
    • Monitoring daily bank account activity
    • Ensuring activity is entered into the general ledger system on a timely basis
    • Ensuring daily book and bank balances are in balance and investigating/resolving reconciling items
    • Preparing monthly bank account reconciliations
  • General accounting and accounts payable functions
    • Initiating vendor payments from the company's Accounts Payable System (Concur)
    • Initiating vendor payments that may occur outside the company's Accounts Payable System (Concur)
    • Organization and maintenance of the company's process for scanning/saving check disbursements and documentation of disbursements that occur outside of the company's Accounts Payable System (Concur)
    • Organization and maintenance of the logging and documenting of check deposits and/or other manual deposits received by the companies
  • Role in the monthly/quarterly close processes to include:
    • Preparation of certain month/end journal entries
    • Preparation of individual general ledger account reconciliations
  • Assist in the daily initiation of policyholder disbursement wires and other general company wire and ACH disbursements
  • Support investment accounting functions as necessary
  • Assist in the preparation of annual 1099 forms
  • Provide assistance as necessary with quarterly and annual state insurance department compliance filings
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Experience of 1+ years in a similar role preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop positive working relationships within finance team and other teams in the organization
  • Willingness to work extended hours as required
