Our diverse portfolio also includes commercial real estate, with a mix of residential units and retail space. Additionally, we have an in-house construction company responsible for building, designing, and renovating our hospitality spaces. We are committed to delivering exceptional service and are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to support our accounting department in various administrative and financial tasks. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys contributing to the development and refinement of processes, and is hands-on with a strong desire to grow and develop their career within the hospitality industry.Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all bills mailed or emailed to the corporate office are provided to the outsourced accounting team on a timely basis for proper period-end booking and reporting.
- Work with the CFO, Controller, and Outsourced Accounting team to build, digitize, and refine financial processes.
- Gather all monthly bank and mortgage statements for reconciliation.
- Remote deposit rent and catering deposits.
- Daily monitoring of restaurant and event cash receipts and track bank deposits.
- Ensure all business licenses are up to date.
- Help Controller track real estate taxes across the real estate portfolio.
- Assist with the monthly filing of sales and occupancy tax returns.
- Assist CFO with quarterly bonus calculations and distribution of bonus checks.
- Help with check printing for employee reimbursements.
- Collaborate and communicate with operational teams on financial matters.
- Assist with credit applications and the setup of new vendors as needed.
- Assist with job costing related to our construction activities, ensuring accurate coding and reporting.
- Review email and mail correspondence and take necessary action.
- Assist the CFO and Controller with ad-hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in an accounting or administrative role, preferably in the hospitality or construction industry.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external partners.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Bill.com, Quickbooks (highly preferred).
- Experience with additional software like Lightspeed, Tripleseat, and Cloudbeds is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
