Classified - Position - Accounting Clerk III Job Number 370####### Start Date Open Date 10/13/2024 Closing Date Job Description POSITION TITLE: ACCOUNTING CLERK III REPORTS TO: FOOD SERVICES COORDINATOROVER-TIME STATUS: NON-EXEMPT PAY GRADE: 410 JOB SUMMARY:Performs intermediate skilled clerical and technical work involving the preparationand maintenance of accounts payable, general ledger or related records; doesrelated work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Prepare and maintain complex accounting, general ledger, and otherfinancial records;
- Prepare and maintain accurate payroll records and employee files
- Processes purchase requisitions and vendor invoices, checks accuracy, codes expenditure accounts and schedules for payment;
- Reconciles invoice quantities to purchase orders;
- Checks paid invoices for correct coding and for reconciliation with voucherregister;
- Checks all invoices for codes, signatures, discounts or duplicate paymentsand schedules for payment;
- Balances statements from vendors and resolves discrepancies;
- Prepares accounts receivable invoices, establishes and maintainsappropriate records and files;
- Maintains accounts records for local, construction and textbook accounts;
- Prepares checks for payroll deductions;
- Prepares receipt book, journal entries and financial reports;
- Enters financial data into computer, balances accounts ledger;
- Performs a wide variety of clerical, account keeping and related tasks;
- Operates personal computer, typewriter, calculator, and other officeequipment incidental to maintaining financial, clerical and related records;
- Performs related tasks as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Thorough knowledge of the accounts payable and general ledger systems and procedures; general knowledge of bookkeeping terminology and methods; general knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment; general knowledge of routine accounting principles; ability to maintain financial records and to prepare reports and statements; ability to make arithmetical computations quickly and accurately; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from highschool supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and considerable bookkeepingexperience.
