As an Accounting Clerk at our sales tax consulting firm, you will confirm the accuracy of these records, and then use those records to timely and accurately prepare, file, and pay clients' sales tax returns across the U.S. and Canada.This role requires extreme attention to detail, expertise working within Excel, and familiarity with accounting and tax software programs such as QuickBooks Online, Shopify, WooCommerce, NetSuite, Avalara, TaxJar, and other commonly used software programs.The successful candidate will be well organized, and effective at time management and prioritization as there are filing deadlines spread across various days throughout each month. Responsibilities•Gathering clients' sales data information from various accounting and tax software programs such as QuickBooks Online, Shopify, WooCommerce, NetSuite, Avalara, TaxJar, etc.•Reviewing and confirming the accuracy of clients' sales data•Preparing drafts of clients' sales tax returns for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual filings to meet all regulatory requirements•Communicating with clients to receive approvals to complete and pay balances due for all pending filings•Providing feedback to clients on best practices, changes in tax laws, and other tax-related and customer service topicsQualifications•Availability: This is an in-office, onsite 5x per week position•Customer Service: A relentless dedication to customer service and exceeding client expectations•Education: Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, finance, or a related field•Experience: Proven track record of success in filing tax returns, preferably sales tax returns•Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex and technical tax matters to clients as well as interfacing with representatives from State Tax Agencies•Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset to understand clients' pain points and provide comprehensive, tailored solutions•Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in using Excel and other accounting and tax software programs such as QuickBooks Online, Shopify, WooCommerce, NetSuite, Avalara, TaxJar, etc.•Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet filing deadlines•Team Player: Collaborative and able to work in a team-oriented environment
