Position Summary: Are you looking for a career in a team-oriented environment? Do you want to work part time and still have your weekends free? Peninsula Credit Union is recruiting a part time Accounting Clerk to work 25-29 hours per week. This position performs as a Credit Union representative to ensure all daily work is in order and balanced. Effectively promotes and supports CU's products and services in a professional and courteous manner consistent with PCFCU's Service Expectations. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Prepare daily reconciliations of Credit Union activities (ACH, direct deposit, wire activity, debit card postings, Visa cash advances, credit card activity, SWBC payments, and accounts payable checks) and assure proper handling of exceptions and corrections. Safeguard the bank's financial assets from fraud, waste and abuse.
  • Post the GL Transaction File to the General Ledger system daily.
  • Post Visa Credit Card Activity and Settlements, and Zelle payments, daily.
  • Balance shared branching activities and assist with reconciling items and other issues, as-needed.
  • Submit weekly cash orders for branches and ATMs, assuring timely submission.
  • Each month, prepare daily work boxes for storage and clean out Check 21 and On-us checks to recycle bins to be destroyed.
  • Assist with backup for the Accounting Specialist with daily and weekly work, including Accounts Payable, ATM reconciliations, posting daily bank account activity, cash management, etc. Ensure compliance with accounting procedures. Escalate complex issues appropriately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities desired:
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Exhibits basic knowledge in the reconciliation of bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
  • Displays attention to detail in preparing travelers cheques for remittance and mailing.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of credit union policy and procedures.
  • Exhibits basic knowledge of products, services, and policies.
  • Competently performs clerical tasks such as copying, faxing, mailing, microfilming, filing etc., as required.
  • Good math and business aptitude.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well.
  • Proficient in the use Microsoft applications such as Windows, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • AA degree in Accounting or two years Accounting Clerk or similar experience preferred
