City National Bank and Trust Position: Accounting Clerk Department: Accounting Status: Full Time Description: The Accounting Clerk will perform various clerical and routine accounting tasks in support of the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying and reconciling multiple accounts, posting entries, processing payments, and/or assisting in preparation of billings and other financial reports. Responds to inquiries and contacts other departments and/or vendors to resolve a variety of problems. Responsibilities:
- Enter and balance multiple accounts on a daily basis
- Track deposits made to bank and handle deposit corrections
- Assemble financial data for audits
- Monitor credit card charges, payment discrepancies, refunds, returns and miscellaneous charges
- Maintain orderly financial filing system
- Reconcile department accounts monthly and prepare reports to present to management
- Assist as needed in monthly financial statement close process
- Ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely
- Preparation of account reconciliations and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in the implementation of changes in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Full cycle accounts payable including processing invoices, coding, researching discrepancies, and employee reimbursements
- Provide support to other accounting staff as needed
Qualifications:
- College degree with Accounting emphasis; prior banking experience a plus
- Project management skills along with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining integrity, professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office & Excel with an aptitude for learning new technologies; prior experience with AS400 and other Accounting Software a plus.
- Ability to clearly communicate with all levels, work well under pressure, and exhibit strong organizational, prioritization, multi-tasking and accounting skills.
- Ability to work independently or in team environment
- Prior experience meeting strict deadlines
Education and Experience:
- Previous Accounting or Bookkeeping experience, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
