This includes prioritizing and assigning tasks and securing necessary workpapers and supporting documentation as requested by both internal and external stakeholders relating to the University and Foundation. Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise the routine accounting operations of the Accounting team
- Lead the activities relating to the University, Foundation, Systems Facilities, Single Audit, NCAA and KRCU audits each year working under the supervision of the Controller
- Problem solve and develop solutions to create effective and reliable improvements to processes and/or controls
- Interface successfully and communicate clearly and concisely with diverse populations of internal and external constituents at all levels of the institution
- Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of all required state and federal tax documents
- Ensure financial compliance with internal policies as well as federal, state, and local regulations
- Conduct scenario analyses to assess potential financial impacts of strategic initiatives
- Maintain an accurate database for effective financial tracking
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business; CPA certification and/or MBA degree is a plus
- Five years accounting or audit experience; higher education experience is a plus
- Experience managing complex accounting issues and applying GAAP, GASB, FASB and other regulations
- Extensive financial reporting experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in querying databases and generating reports using various programs including Microsoft Access and Excel
- Proficiency working with an Enterprise Resource Management System; Ellucian Banner ERP experience is a plus
- Exceptional analytical skills, problem solving skills and decision-making abilities
- Supervisory experience including performance evaluations and leading teams to achieve goals
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to customer service
- Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments through coaching, developing, and leading teams to achieve common goals
