Job Description:
SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring accuracy and timeliness of accounting transactions and financial statements while ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and conforming to the processes and procedures of the company. This role reports directly to the Controller and will manage a team of 4 (total) AP and AR specialists.Attention Applicants: All applicants are required to complete the survey linked below. Failure to complete the survey will result in the application being considered incomplete and it will not be reviewed by the hiring manager.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensures timely payments of vendor invoices, expense vouchers and billing to customers
  • Maintains accurate records and control reports
  • Accurate and timely completion of period end closing and prepare accurate balance sheet reconciliations
  • Drives process change to reduce financial closing period and improve its accuracy on a consistent basis
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  • Assist with preparation and providing documentation for financial statement and bank audits and other audits as required
  • Provide recommendations to improve AP & AR functions
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
  • Collaborates with the other department managers to support overall company and department objectives
  • Review and publish departmental reports for the Augusta facility
  • Managing the fixed asset system and updating as appropriate; provide period end depreciation report; post all related entries for period end closing
  • Supports Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements
  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
  • Assist in the budgeting process
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required.
EXPERIENCE
  • 2 years of experience in manufactory environment is preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
SPECIAL SKILLS, COMPENTENCIES, & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to direct and supervise
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations
