The Accounting Manager position requires a talented individual to lead accounting functions, associate development, and technical training as well as implement and support key strategic accounting projects. Involves development, preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial information. The ideal candidate is a leader experienced in accounting with strong organization and communication skills, passionate about change and delivers results with continuous process improvement. The role will directly be supported by the Retail Controller.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership, coaching, training, and support to a team of accounting professionals by setting clear direction, accountability, and goals. Guide the team's development to maximize organizational impact.
* Manage month end close process ensuring complete, accurate and timely close.
* Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements and related variance analysis, trend analysis, etc
* Reviews / audits monthly general ledger account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis and other financial information.
* Establishes, maintains, and implements written financial policies, procedures, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.
* Major contributor in development and implementation of COA and financial statement design, new processes and system solutions as a result of new ERP system.
* Develop opportunities to automate and optimize processes that add value and quality to the organization.
* Responsible for coordination of year end close with accounting and other department teams as well as coordinate with external auditors for all areas and provides required information for the annual audit.
* Major contributor with implementation of new accounting regulations.
* Ensures that financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
* Assistance with real estate accounting as needed.
* As required by changing business needs, completes additional responsibilities as assigned.
* Adheres to privacy and confidential and proprietary company policies and procedures.
Education:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting required
Experience & Background:
Minimum of 8 years previous accounting experience required. CPA experience preferred.
Personal Characteristics:
* An thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Mastery of accounting and fixed asset software.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
* Mastery of analyzing financial data, reports, and documents.
* Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and flexibility to change.
* Possess a positive professional personality & appearance.
* Ability to work independently and as part of team.
* Ability to maintain relationships with accounting staff and other departments.
* Detail oriented.
* Maintain total regard for strict confidentiality.
