General Summary:
The Accounting Manager oversees the financial accounting activities of the organization, including A/P, non-patient A/R, and treasury management. The Accounting manager works directly with the CFO to oversee all accounts, ledgers, bank accounts, credit cards, financial audits, and reporting systems to ensure proper controls, accurate and timely financial reporting, and compliance with appropriate GAAP, grant, and other regulatory standards and requirements. The Accounting Manager also works closely with HR to process and support payroll- and benefits-related activities, and supports the CFO in strategic planning, budgeting, and related activities. Most importantly, the Accounting Manager also serves as a culture champion by embodying the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Christ Community Health.
Essential Job Duties:
* Establishes, maintains, and continually improves upon efficient workflows that support robust internal controls
* Accurately conducts and/or oversees regular reconciliation activities, including of bank accounts and key GL accounts
* Ensures accurate and timely month- and year-end closing, including the preparation and posting of relevant journal entries, resulting in financial reporting that conforms with GAAP and is useful to inform business decisions
* Works with the CFO to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit
* Works with the CFO to manage federal grant accounting, reporting, and compliance
* Effectively manages the duties and performance of direct reports, including teaching, coaching, and correcting as necessary, and leads them to also embody the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Christ Community Health
* Provides senior oversight of payroll activities alongside Human Resources personnel
* Works closely with Patient Accounts personnel to properly account for and monitor patient services revenue and A/R
* Works closely with Donor Development personnel to properly account for and monitor grant and fundraising revenues, including the proper accounting for contributions made with donor restrictions
* Plays a key role in financial planning & analysis (FP&A) activities and serves as a business partner to key organizational leaders and stakeholders
* Contributes to organizational contract management and procurement efforts to appropriately control costs
* Ensures the maintenance of historical records in accordance with applicable retention policies
* Performs other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time

* Strong overall computer skills, including meaningful experience working within an electronic accounting software platform and intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel, Word
Education and Experience:
* A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field, with at least five (5) years of accounting experience, including at least two (2) years of accounting department management experience, is required. Additional experience may be substituted for a four- year degree
* Experience in non-profit and/or healthcare accounting is highly preferred. A CPA license and public accounting experience is preferred
* Solid experience and/or exposure to payroll administration
* Experience working in Blackbaud Financial Edge is a plus
