Position Summary
This position is the financial leader for the manufacturing location and will be responsible for the financial activities of the plant, including such activities as reporting and financial analysis, budget development, and overseeing the internal and external activities of record keeping and reporting. Apply and maintain knowledge of accounting policies & procedures and ensure training of accounting personnel relative to those policies and procedures. Recommends changes in company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing process and report preparation for plant operations and corporate as directed. Includes the analysis and review with operations management of results, variances to forecasts, plans and established standards.
* Compiles and develops trend reports to assist operations management in analyzing plant performance, expenditures, shipments, inventory, etc. in order to respond to adverse trends on a weekly basis. Actively participate with operations management to correct trends and suggest ideas to increase productivity.
* Responsible for internal accounting controls to provide reasonable assurance that the company's assets are safeguarded and properly accounted for in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
* Responsible for the review, audit and reporting of the results of periodic inventory counts for all plant inventory and all consignment / out of plant inventories if applicable per corporate policy.
* Develop accurate plant standard product cost through analysis and review of costs and variances for raw materials (to include yield factors), machine rates per hour, process scrap, efficiency and throughputs.
* Prepare and review with operations management standard cost quotes for new and revised product structures as requested by commercial teams, operations or corporate.
* Maintain / Create / Update product bills of materials and coating specifications.
* Coordinate and complete per schedule the annual financial planning process for the manufacturing operation as directed by corporate finance.
* Participate in cross functional teams and be lead person for project benefit analysis and benefit validation.
* Maintain an organized, safe and efficient work environment.
* Develop new methods in conjunction with a changing environment and technology, recommending improvements in reducing costs, updating processes, documentation, improving accuracy and timeliness of departmental tasks.
* Works on special projects / assignments as required.
* Works as a team member to provide excellent customer service to the organization and to support department objectives.
Selection Criteria:
* Education:
* Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
* Experience:
* Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience within a manufacturing environment utilizing a standard cost system.
* Computer proficient in an integrated information system environment, along with spreadsheet and report writing query tools preferred.
* Experience in an environment of participative management is highly desired.
* Management Skills:
* Must be able to creatively solve problems and facilitate others to do the same.
* Must be a confident and adept decision maker and capable of making decisions with time and information constraints.
* The ability to quantify results, identify new opportunities, adapt to change, and interface with all levels of management on a continual basis is required.
* The ability to analyze data and provide useful information to support operation and business decision making
* Use and understand statistics in analyzing operating and business situations.
* Language Skills:
* Requires ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with people of various educational and technical backgrounds, both inside and outside the company.
* Problem Solving Skills:
* Must be innovative and logical in problem solving skills and able to recommend resolution to issues, internally and with customers, vendors and other MACtac facilities.
* Work Environment:
* Individual will be required to work in both plant and office environment. May travel up to 10% of the time. Eye and foot protection are mandatory when working around all equipment.
* Ability to set priorities and self-manage tasks/projects in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
* Other:
