Position SummaryThe Accounting Manager will have the day-to-day responsibilities of managing the maintenance of financial statements, reports, and systems. They will help to ensure that a comprehensive and proper set of controls are in place through processes, including but not limited to documentation, reconciliations, and enforcing policies. The Manager will assist finance leadership in ensuring the school's sustainability and accuracy of financial information, compliance, and confidentiality of information. This role will report directly to the CFO.This is a temp to a permanent position with a salary range of $100,000-$120,000. When determining the salary for an offer, ECFS considers factors including, but not limited to: the scope and responsibilities of the position, internal peer equity, key skills required for the role, the candidate's work experience, education, and training, as well as market and organizational considerations.Please note that this is an onsite role and is not performed remotely. ResponsibilitiesSpecific responsibilities of the Accounting Manager will include:
- Ensuring timely and accurate completion of the close process and ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements;
- Maintaining the daily flow of financial information to achieve timely and efficient achievements of close and post deliverables, including P&L reviews, commentary, various analyses, schedules, and reporting;
- Reviewing account reconciliations for multiple accounts including, but not limited to, investments, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, pledge receivables, accrued expenses, bank reconciliation, miscellaneous accounts receivables, and payables;
- Assisting the CFO to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of income statements, balance sheets & other financial reports;
- Supporting the CFO in developing and improving controls, policies and processes as needed;
- Working closely with the CFO to assist with field work for the annual audit process and work with the finance team to address selections and resolutions;
- Staying up to date on accounting/ financial reporting guidelines and implementing accordingly;
- Ensuring cardholders submit Concur reports in a timely and accurate manner on a monthly basis to reconcile to the statement;
- Managing credit card orders and Concur training as necessary;
- Preparing budget reports and compiling requests into a consolidated file for leadership to review;
- Working with the CFO to prepare various tax forms, and financial data, such as various surveys and statistics for CFO approval;
- Assisting the CFO in helping to ensure that new financial systems are moving forward and helping to ensure a smooth rollout;
- Fostering positive relationships with team members and various stakeholders;
- Motivating and inspiring the team and coworkers to achieve goals; and
- Other projects, tasks and duties as assigned.
Position RequirementsThe successful incumbent will possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required, and a CPA certification is desired;
- A proven record of strong financial acumen;
- Must be collaborative, hands-on, results-oriented, and innovative;
- At least 3-5 years of previous experience working with advanced technologies and collaboration tools such as applications included in a Google Workspace environment;
- A positive attitude and the ability to listen effectively and be receptive to feedback;
- Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills to effectively communicate initiatives, facilitate discussions, and present to various levels of stakeholders;
- The capacity to understand and manage the complexities and nuances that exist within non-profit accounting;
- The ability to handle confidential materials with discretion while maintaining a high level of integrity;
- Previous experience working with diverse colleagues/groups and can navigate through cross-functional or cross- departmental projects while taking ownership and driving the work to achieve success;
- The ability to be comfortable with ambiguity, thinks outside the box, and provides a continuous flow of new ideas and process improvements;
- A high degree of organization, resourcefulness, efficiency, as well as strong skills in prioritizing resources to get the job done;
- The ability to identify issues quickly and problem solve accordingly, and to remain calm in stressful situations that may arise;
- A willingness to learn and embrace new ideas and procedures and a consistent initiative to help streamline processes and improve efficiencies;
- Analytically grounded and ability to actualize ideas through execution;
- The ability to work collaboratively in group settings, as well as independently, to meet project goals and team needs;
- Proficiency in utilizing and learning new technologies (i.e., Google Workspace tools, Blackbaud, and Microsoft Office);
- Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance; and
