We are bridging the gap between commerce and connection amidst an exploding internet economy.We earn creators on our platform almost $1B / year with a team of about 70 people based in Brooklyn, NY.What does the role look like?You will play a significant role across accounting, audit, tax, and oversee AP/AR function and procurement processes for a high growth marketplace startup. You will serve as a trusted partner to the Head of Finance and Operations, and have the opportunity to gain exposure to other elements of the business over time.Key responsibilities include:
- Manage monthly close process, including reconciliations and consolidation, and prepare statements, schedules, and supporting documentation
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including management reports required for internal reporting purposes
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation to reduce time to close and improve accuracy of underlying accounting records
- Assist in creation and maintenance of internal controls and policies
- Perform technical accounting research and prepare memos to support position
- Manage the annual audit process, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of audit schedules
- Coordinate and manage tax filings and compliance in the US and abroad
- Implement automation of accounting processes and assist with special projects
Your first 90 days will look like the following:
- Within 30 days, you will fully understand the accounting for our business, including the month-end close process, the different components of our financial statements, and the key priorities and roadmap for the accounting function
- Within 60 days, you will be leading month-end close (in conjunction with our 3rd party bookkeepers) and interacting closely with auditors for our 2023 financial audit
- Within 90 days, you will have migrated accounting in-house and identified and executed on process improvements, internal controls, and automation / real time cost reporting
Qualifications:
- CPA
- Big 4 audit experience
- 6+ years of progressive experience, with bonus points for experience at a high growth startup (in particular, marketplaces, payments, fintech, or eCommerce)
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP and internal accounting controls
- Proven ability to identify and drive process and system improvements
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills
