Position DetailsPosition Information Internal Posting?Posting Number SP004691P Position Title Accounting Specialist II Division/College Auxiliary Services Department Auxiliary Services Location Moscow Posting Context Statement Serves as a key team player within the University of Idaho's shared financial services reporting through the Budget and Planning office within the Division of Finance and Administration. The Division of Finance and Administration consists of multiple units with Auxiliary Services as one of these. Auxiliary Services includes: Administrative Operations, Campus Services, Golf Course and Vandalstore. Auxfinance provides financial and other services for the Auxiliary Services units.Position Overview The position performs a variety of accounting activities that range in level of complexity from clerical accounting duties such as managing receivables and payables, to more complex duties such as reconciling accounts and resolving accounting problems.Duties may include:
- Process, update and maintain various routine accounting records and documents
- Prepare accounting statements, billing documents and financial reports
- Enter, retrieve and maintain data on computerized accounting system
- Respond to customer inquiries
- Reconcile / analyze accounting records for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with researching and solving accounting problems
- Assist with determining proper classification and coding of income and expenditures
- Assist in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and University policy and procedures
- Assist customers with University policies and procedures or make referrals as necessary
- Collect and record payments; issue receipts
- Prepare and make daily bank deposits and manage change funds
- Take necessary action to resolve customer problems or discrepancies
- Interact with internal and external auditors and participate in auditing projects
- May process, update and maintain various complex transactions
- Other duties as assigned

- Two years full-time experience providing financial or business process support within established policies and procedures, including interpreting and applying policies and procedures to practical situations.
- Experience using computerized accounting systems or spreadsheet software to compile financial information, prepare summaries and reports.
- A Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance may substitute for the above work experience
Required Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Other
Additional Preferred
- Experience in a customer service / support role
- Experience with governmental fund accounting
- Experience working in a complex, decentralized accounting environment
- Wide range of customers regarding sensitive information
Familiarity with:
- FERPA
- Banner
- Banking rules and regulations
