Job Type Full-time Description ABOUT MIRIAM'S KITCHEN Miriam's Kitchen works to end chronic homelessness in Washington, DC. We advocate for permanent supportive housing as a long-term solution, while meeting short-term needs by providing healthy meals and high-quality social services to individuals who are chronically homeless. POSITION SUMMARY: This position will assist the Director of Finance with the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. Under the general supervision of the Director of Finance, the position is responsible for assisting with various job tasks related to payroll processing, accounts payable, financial reporting, employee benefits, complying with the records retention program, and data entry. All job tasks must be completed in a timely and accurate manner. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Payroll
- Ensure accurate processing of employee timecards each pay period by working closely with employees, supervisors and HR
- Assist with filing as needed
- Assist with the preparation of pension and other reports as needed
Accounts Payable
- Process billing invoices and purchase request forms in BILL
- Ensure that all receipts for monthly Credit Card receipts have been uploaded into Divvy
- Prepare supporting documentation for written checks as needed
- Review Bill.com Clearing Account and record AJEs, as needed
Month End Close
- Prepare Pledge Receivable Schedule
- Assist with monthly Medicaid/ Government contract billing as needed
- Record Revenue and Pledge Entries in QuickBooks daily
- Review and Record Deferred Revenue Entries
- Post Deposits in Transit
- Reconcile revenue with development on a monthly basis
- Prepare monthly reconciliation for balance sheet accounts
Year-end
- Assist with FY audit preparation and support during sample testing

QUALIFICATIONS: 3-5 years' experience in not-for-profit accounting and/or bachelor's degree in accounting/finance Physical Demands - Regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Travel Demands: This position occasionally requires local travel between Miriam's Kitchen and partner sites. Where the need arises for business travel, appropriate compensation ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Hybrid (a blend of remote and onsite) work schedule.
