Job Description:

SUMMARY:

Supports the daily operational activities of the Finance and Accounting Department through a variety of general accounting tasks by assisting with the monthly and annual closing process as well as daily operations. This includes performing reconciliations and designing schedules required for regulatory audits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Input invoices into NetSuite, ensuring correct cost center and GL codes.

* Manage recurring purchase orders and contractor payments in NetSuite

* Administer AOPA's Amazon Business account including license provision and other needed updates

* Validate recurring charges on the corporate credit card.

* Manage the capital procurement process including quotes, purchase, and delivery

* Partner with AOPA business units to develop annual department operating and capital budgets. Schedule routine follow-up meetings with stakeholders to produce annual forecasts.

* Review monthly financial reports (Actuals) for variances and trends

* Assist in transactional research and creating reports

* Monitor and maintain adequate equipment inventory for IT

* Monitor contract and software renewal dates

* Administer, purchase and renew all AOPA owned domain names

* Maintain important electronic and paper files to include contracts, order forms, invoices and other correspondence

* Monitor AP Help questions/issues and vendor requests when needed

* Provide quality internal and external customer service

* Keep A/P processing manuals and instructions up to date as processes change

Although this job description aims to capture the majority of the position duties, other duties may be assigned based on business and departmental needs.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

* 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an equivalent position

* 1-2 years of using NetSuite or other similar complex accounting system

* Associate degree in accounting required or proven, self-directed online coursework equivalent to an AA in accounting degree curriculum.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

* This position works in a climate-controlled office setting.

* Typical working hours are 8:30 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with an hour lunch break.

* May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions if attending aviation related events onsite.

* This position does not require travel.

* This position does not supervise others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands of the Accounting Technician position are typical of a standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to:

* Sit for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.

* Use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.

* Communicate effectively via email, phone, and in-person, which requires clear speech, hearing, and vision.

* Occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 15 pounds, such as boxes of materials or equipment.

* Occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms during the course of normal office activities.

Additional position details:

This position works out of the Frederick, MD location and is not eligible for remote status. The salary range for this position is: $53,000 - $65,000 depending on education and experience.
