ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK-FULL TIME

JOB DUTIES Perform procedures necessary to maintain the accounts payable system and to monitor the internal control of the system. Review all invoices and purchase orders to assure proper coding to the correct department & entity and approval according to health system policies. Review all invoices to monitor that the items have been received and that prices are accurate, timely and reasonable. Process all invoices for payment, mail checks and create vouchers for health system records. Answer inquiries from vendors, departments & other health system entities regarding the status of invoices and resolve payment problems that may arise. Maintain necessary information for filing 1099 tax forms to required vendors, physician contractors and transportation drivers. Gather and compile information necessary to pay physician contractors. Supervise and Coordinate hospital software for the Accounts Payable Meditech Module Prepare monthly journal entries for accounts payable cash disbursements and accruals and other entries necessary to maintain the general ledger. Prepare and update various reconciliation's necessary to maintain general ledger accounts. Keep Controller and Accounting Manager up to date on cash requirements. Maintain close communication with Accounting Manager, Purchasing, department staff and Controller. Help develop and implement new projects/services that effect financial processes MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED One to two years of experience in accounts payable or related area. In lieu of experience, an associate degree in accounting is acceptable. Communication skills necessary to effectively: Communicate with vendor representatives. Communicate with auditors. Communicate with peers, subordinates and Administrative Heads. Ability to concentrate and prioritize, resolve problems and interact with situations. Must be able to remember, reason, understand and be emotionally stable. Minimum one year necessary to learn job.
