Job Position: Accounts Payable ClerkLocation: Ridgeland, SC 29936Pay Rate: $18.00/hourShift: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm
MAJOR DUTIES: - Processed and enters vendor invoices.
- Files all paid invoices.
- Mail and/or distribute checks to vendors and employees, as necessary.
- Review, process, and pay employee travel vouchers and expense reports.
- Receive and review local Hospitality and Accommodation Tax returns.
- Deposit Hospitality and Accommodation tax payments.
- Answer the department telephone.
- Audit and reconcile vendor statements.
- Prepare and maintain accounts payable spreadsheets and files.
- Prepare and submit monthly sales and use tax reports and payments.
- Prepare year-end documents, including but not limited to annual 1099's.
- Prepare files for annual audit as required.
- Prepare prior year invoices for storage.
- Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely fashion.
- Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Compile and prepare routine reports and summaries.
- Maintain office equipment and schedule maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain records on use of vehicles and other assets assigned to the administrative offices of the County.
- Maintain digital and physical financial records.
- Enter financial transactions into internal database.
- Issue invoices and grant reimbursement requests to customers and external partners.
- Participate in quarterly and annual audits as required.
- Aid other departments as needed about accounts payable issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: - Knowledge of County accounting and personnel policies and internal control procedures.
- Skill in the use of computers and various software programs, including Excel and Word.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Proficient to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned duties.
- Demonstrates an ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Associate degree in Accounts Payable, Bookkeeping, or similar field, preferred. However, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience can be substituted.
- 3 - 5 years of relevant hands-on experience
- Ability to bonded, if necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts heavy objects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in an office.
