Job Description:

The role of the Accounts Payable involves providing financial, administrative, and clerical support to the organization. Their role is to complete payments, and control expenses by making payments, processing, and verifying invoices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Pay employees by verifying expense reports and preparing checks
  • Pay vendors by scheduling pay checks and ensuring payment is received for outstanding credit; generally responding to all vendor enquiries regarding finance
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
  • Match invoices to checks, obtain all signatures for checks and distribute checks accordingly
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting
  • Assist with other projects as needed

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Accounting degree or equivalent experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES:
  • Past results in producing strong results in the following areas:
    • creating purchase orders
    • Receiving, opening, and logging invoices
    • Paying bills in a timely manner, and making sure programs are not overcharged
  • Positive track record working with people.
  • Strong inter-personal communication skills.
  • Good Excel skills.
Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
