Position Details Location Hattiesburg 118 College Drive Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 39406-0001 United States Division Accounts Payable - Travel Position Type Staff Employment Status Full Time Grant Funded No Salary Range 13.07 - 15.38 Pay Grade N04 Posting Close Date 11-22-2024 Job Summary The AccountsPayable Clerk audits and processes vendor invoices related to purchase orders andother vouchers for payment as assigned. This position works with Universitystaff and vendors to obtain all needed information to process payments;processes paperwork associated with weekly check run, special checks, virtualvendor payments, and other payments as required. PrimaryJob Duties and Responsibilities:
Reconciles and corrects errors manually and in the accounting systems to prevent over and under payments to vendors. Audits purchase order invoices, remittance vouchers, and employee reimbursement vouchers for payment. Maintains a portion of the University's mechanizedaccounting records by entering transactions and invoices in order to payvendors correctly and in a timely manner. Processes paperwork related to weekly check runfiles to print accounts payable checks, Monitors system to ensure checksare printed and distributed correctly. Processes specials checks asneeded. Makes deposits and processes checks that have been returned by thePost Office. Serves as a departmentcontact for upgrades and testing of software systems. Assists with training staff on the process of scanningand linking vouchers in SOARFIN. Assists Manager andAssistant Manager with review of 1099 withholding queries and theprocessing of adjustments of SOARFIN vouchers, and assists with the annualpreparation and mailing of 1099 documentation. Provides the campuscommunity with guidance and assists them with the procedures necessary toensure that all information is available to pay vendors, and performsother duties as assigned. Minimum QualificationsAssociate's degree in related field or two yearsrelated experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and relatedexperience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge ofaccounts payable processes and the PeopleSoft or similar accounting system.
- Knowledgeand understanding of IRS codes as it relates to 1099 reporting and independentcontractors.
- Ability toidentify and resolve discrepancies in documents or numeric data.
- Skill incomputer office applications with intermediate knowledge and skill ofmaneuvering within Windows-based software applications such as Microsoft Wordand Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledgeand skill using Internet browsers to access web sites.
- Basicknowledge and skill of using email to send and receive correspondence.
- Skilled inMicrosoft Word, and Microsoft Excel for reports and documents.
- Ability toread and interpret documents such as procedure manuals.
- Ability towrite routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability tospeak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability toadd, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using wholenumbers, common fractions, and decimals.
