Position Type: Office PersonnelDate Posted: 12/4/2024Location: Central OfficeClosing Date: 12/11/2024CROMWELL PUBLIC SCHOOLSPosition: Accounts Payable Location: Cromwell Public Schools - Central Office Description: The purpose of this position is to perform clerical accounting functions of varied complexity in the area of accounts payable including banking/cash management of the District and Student Activity accounts. The work is performed under the direction of and reports to the Director of Financial Services. Qualifications: High School diploma; four years of responsible office accounting/bookkeeping experience and knowledge of computer software applications. Must be highly organized and prioritize well under pressure and with deadlines. Responsibilities: 1. Review requisitions for proper account coding, accuracy, vendor designation, encumber funds, prepare and distribute purchase orders and related information, determine correct prices and discounts, verify authorized signatures and related information for reconciling invoices for payment based on established accounting procedures. 2. Ability to process large volumes of paperwork with a high degree of accuracy. 3. Ability to establish and maintain files and record systems in a timely manner. 4. Deposit, record and reconcile funds received for Student Activities transactions. 5. Process all 1099 forms to vendors for District. 6. Purchase all central office supplies on a monthly basis, or as needed. 7. Responsible for sorting and distribution of Central Office mail on a daily basis. 8. Assist with office duties such as answering phones, greeting customers. 9. Ability to respect confidentiality of privileged information. 10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, company representatives and the general public. 11. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 12. Ability to work independently. 13. Ability to use computer for E-mail, word processing, accounting, and databases. 14. Ability to perform duties with awareness of, and to adhere to, all district requirements and Board of Education Policies. 15. Other duties and projects as assignment. Reports to: Director of Financial Services Salary and benefits: Hourly rate ($26.83 per hour) and benefits as outlined in the UPSEU contract, 30 minute unpaid lunch (8 AM to 4 PM (37.5 hours per week, 1840 hours per year). 12 month position, during the summer and school vacations, reduced hours of 6 hours per day. *New applicants should submit a cover letter, resume and at least two references.
