The Accounts Payable Manager provides leadership and direction to a team of accounts payable specialists and analysts responsible for the entire accounts payable process, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all vendor payments, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors. The Accounts Payable Manager will play a crucial role in driving process improvements and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned
* Lead, mentor, and develop the accounts payable team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
* Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment execution, vendor reconciliation, and expenses management.
* Ensure timely and accurate payments of vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and other financial obligations.
* Ensure accurate coding and approval of invoices and expense reports in accordance with company policies.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, resolve disputes, and manage inquiries.
* Manage and enhance the accounts payable systems and processes, including automation initiatives and system integrations.
* Prepare and present accounts payable metrics and reports to senior management, including aging reports, cash flow forecasts, and accruals.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements, including tax regulations.
* Coordinate and oversee the accounts payable month-end close process, including assisting the accounting department with the preparation of accruals and reconciliations.
* Lead the preparation for internal and external audits related to accounts payable, ensuring all documentation and processes are in place.
* Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to streamline the accounts payable function, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
* Foster continuous operational improvements for the Procure-to-Pay process, partnering with Procurement, IT and the business to solve common challenges.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
* Five years of experience in accounts payable, with at least three years in a leadership role.
* Proven experience managing a high-volume accounts payable department, preferably in a mid to large-sized company.
* US Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contracts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Seven years of experience in accounts payable, with at least five years in a leadership role.
* Experience in a SOX compliant controls environment in a mid to large-sized company.
* Demonstrated experience scaling an accounts payable operation in a rapid growth environment.
* Workday experience or other large ERP systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
* A strategic thinker with an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial processes.
* Ability to adapt to/effect change, and welcome new challenges.
* Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Experience with automated accounting systems.
* Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
* Must have the ability to effectively interface with all levels of the organization.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work across functions.
