We are seeking an Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our growing team! This role will be responsible for collecting past due items on B&N Institutional and Corporate customer accounts. Specific states will be assigned to an AR representative to ensure accountability and provide our customers with a single point of contact. This role will communicate with both customers and B&N stores to provide resolution on open receivables pertaining to invoices within customer accounts. The end result is that customer obligations are met through payment in full for outstanding invoices.This role is based in our Monroe, NJ office.

What You Do:
  • Provides both the stores and customers with necessary invoice/statement detail backup
  • Researches root causes surrounding why customers are not paying for items
  • Interacts with several different internal and external departments to ensure payments are timely
  • Contacts customers via phone, fax, and email regarding outstanding balances
  • Engages Manager when necessary for problematic account issues
  • Performs effective follow-up on promise-to-pays and broken promises while prioritizing aged items
Knowledge & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, plus a minimum of 3 years of customer service or related experience in a specialty retail environment
  • Working knowledge of Oracle AR software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in oral and written format, including effective communication via phone calls, faxes, one-on-one conversations, and emails to customers, stores, and other B&N departments
  • Must be able to communicate ideas and concerns to both the AR Team and Manager
