Hastings Insurance is seeking an Accounts Receivable Technician! This is a great opportunity for an entry-level Accounting professional to join our team responsible for the company's cash application account management. Position Overview The Accounts Receivable Technician is responsible for Agency and Direct Bill account activity, including decisions regarding account reinstatement, cash application, and assistance with agency account inquiries. - This is a non-exempt (hourly) position that will work daily onsite at our Hastings, Michigan corporate offices.
- This role will generally work our standard office hours of Monday - Friday, 8:00 am -4:30 pm.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Processes cash transactions and encodes checks for all incoming direct bills, agency bills, and collection payments.
- Processes all transactions and change requests received through the banking lockbox.
- Communicates with Underwriting pertaining to routine billing account questions.
- Investigates and resolves customer queries, researches and resolves account discrepancies.
- Provides excellent service to customers via phone, email, or letter.
- Evaluates policies and initiate reinstatement transactions according to company guidelines.
- Redistributes payments on customer billing accounts in accordance with company guidelines
- Processes daily reports as assigned.
- Monitors departmental email/mailbox. As appropriate, contacts agency, Underwriting or Marketing for additional assistance.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college coursework/degrees are helpful.
- A minimum of one year experience in a billing or Accounts Receivable (A/R) related function.
- Strong data entry, bookkeeping, and mathematical experience required.
- Excellent strong demonstrated written and verbal communication ability.
- Demonstrated experience in making decisions and solving problems within a business environment.
