Job Description

Under supervision, the Accreditation Specialist for Oncology is responsible for project management of national Cancer accreditation programs, by supervising, coordinating and executing the accreditation processes and applications for certifications. The Specialist will have a deep understanding of the application process, standards, and requirements for national Cancer program accreditation, including but not limited to the American Cancer Society Commission on Cancer (COC) and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The Specialist supports progress toward accreditation by working collaboratively with various clinical and ancillary staff across multiple hospitals.

The Specialist coordinates and implements all aspects of accreditation applications and programs to ensure that organizational goals of accreditation are met on time with highest quality.

Also Performs The Following

  • Expertise in hospital Cancer Accreditation programs, primarily the American Cancer Society Commission on Cancer (COC) and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC)
  • Participate and keep notes for regular hospital Cancer Committee meetings
  • Set timelines and manage program goals towards accreditation
  • Maintain, organize, and present data related to cancer program accreditation goals including cancer volume and quality
  • Work closely with hospital Cancer Committee leaders to submit and manage application packages
  • Oversee the collection, compilation, and analysis of clinical program activity data to evaluate compliance with accreditation standards
  • Develop and designs action plans to meet accreditation standards
  • Provide technical guidance in the development of administrative and operational processes, templates, procedures/protocols and other core documents.
  • All other duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration, Healthcare Management, Engineering, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences or related discipline; and
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in project and program management, execution, and implementation, three (3) years of which must have been in the administration, management and/or execution of projects and programs of various complexities, including work in health care program planning,

research, design or related area; or

  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Program Management Professional (PgMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)) and four (4) years of experience as described in #2 above, two (2) years of which must have been in the administration, management and/or execution of projects and programs of various complexities, including work in healthcare program planning, research, design or related area.

  • Knowledgeable in Project management
  • Able to successfully apply for and gain Oncology program accreditation (COC and/or NAPBC)
