Job Description:

PERIKIN Enterprises maintains a contract with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD) (NA-213). NSDD works with international partners to strengthen capabilities to deter, detect, and investigate the smuggling of nuclear and radiological materials by providing the expertise and tools needed to respond to smuggling events. This includes the deployment and sustainment of radiation detection equipment.

The Sustainability Action Officer will directly support the Director and Deputy Director for the NSDD Sustainability Program. The position requires a background in executive assistance or other administrative support.

This position works a hybrid schedule, requiring three days per week on-site at DOE Headquarters, with the option to telework up to two days per week from an approved location.

The position will involve, but is not limited to, the following:

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
  • Act as the chief of staff for key members of NSDD Sustainability Program management, including calendar management, meeting coordination/logistics, meeting facilitation, meeting minutes, and general administrative support as needed.
  • Track and summarize outstanding actions that NSDD management has requested from others or promised to deliver. Make recommendations on course of action and follow-up.
  • Organizational management support through the preparation of briefing materials and pre-briefing program leadership for meetings and briefings on both technical and non-technical subjects. Briefing books are commonly provided in support to travel and key meetings as needed by the Director and Deputy Director.
  • Manage the current and future activities, calendar events, and other meetings.
  • Lead and coordinate contributors in the completion of program technical and administrative tasks as requested.
  • Provide recommendations to improve Sustainability processes and procedures, including specific technologies, policy development, and Program administrative issues. This includes recommendations and support for activities, events, and ongoing projects.
  • Updating administrative documents for weekly and monthly updates and reports on administrative and technical issues.
  • Develop the agenda and host weekly Sustainability teleconferences with Federal country managers and laboratory sustainability managers.
  • Coordinate between HQ and labs on periodic meetings and project updates. Acquire and maintain meeting notes.
EDUCATION
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in business administration, communications, public administration, international studies, or a related field
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and professional
  • Must be able to manage the workload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced corporate environment
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of various meeting platforms (Teams, WebEx)
  • Must be able to meet or exceed short turnaround deadlines
  • Experience with working with senior management
  • Time management, problem solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills are critical to effectively anticipate needs
  • Must have excellent communication skills, orally and in writing
  • Minimum of 3 years as an Executive Assistant
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Q (TS equivalent)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active DOE Q or DOD TS clearance
  • Knowledge of U.S. government and U.S. foreign policy
  • Knowledge of nuclear security

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 pounds at times
  • Domestic and International Travel up to 15%
