Scope of Position:In this role, you will be responsible for helping organize and execute a recreation schedule, filling each day with a variety of activities to help improve our residents' quality of life. Examples of Duties
- Plan resident programs, lead resident groups in ongoing, structured programs; transport residents to and from programs daily.
- Conduct individualized social visits with residents daily.
- Maintain resident safety, complete necessary daily census reports and monthly filing responsibilities.
- Prepare outing notices for dietary and nursing departments, organize outings, drive residents to outings, i.e. luncheons, picnics, theater, shopping trips. Take the bus training as required.
- Develop calendar schedules for monthly activities, place appropriate scheduling information on bulletin boards. Post notices of programs, informing residents of the day's events.
- Deliver resident mail, newspapers, newsletters, reading mail to residents as needed.
- Take responsibility for the resident's well-being.
- Prepare decorations for seasonal parties and dances.
- Set up and prepare area for recreational activities, i.e. equipment and craft supplies.
- Prepare reports regarding needed supplies, repairs of equipment to supervisor; clean areas, feed birds, and clean cages.
- Assist with Initial Assessments, 90 Day Progress Notes, MDS and Daily Census, barber and beauty shop lists; monthly refreshment list for dietary; assist with compiling data for surveys.
- Complete feeding course and assist at resident's mealtimes. Staff will either serve in the main dining room or assist with feeding on the units.
- Complete assessments of residents and design a dementia program to meet their needs and enhance/ maintain quality of life.
- Attend risk meetings.
- Attend care plan meetings.
Typical Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience with elderly patients a plus
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Supplemental InformationShift Differential:
- $2/hour - 2nd shift
- 20% of base rate of pay for all Weekend shifts
