It is their responsibility to implement best practices, as dictated by their therapeutic recreation degree, to ensure that residents receive quality care, as dictate by the mission and values of Wesley Enhanced Living.Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct needs assessments or surveys to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, wellness and fitness programs, events, or services.
- Demonstrate proper operation of fitness equipment, such as resistance machines, cardio machines, free weights, or fitness assessment devices.
- Maintain or arrange for maintenance of fitness equipment or facilities.
- Maintain wellness- and fitness-related schedules, records, or reports.
- Provide individual support or counseling in general wellness or nutrition AS REQUESTED.
- Recommend new program or service offerings to promote wellness and fitness OF RESIDENTS. .
- Track attendance, participation, or performance data related to FITNESS PROGRAMS.
- Serve as the primary program developer and leader for the sensory program, to achieve the overall mission objectives to include planning, leading, and designing program events.
- Support educational and entertainment program with ideas, resources, and research for creative and stimulating program offerings.
- Coach residents to discover, develop and fulfill inner purpose through mentoring and facilitation of unique and enriching program opportunities representing the six dimensions of wellness: Spiritual, Intellectual, Social, Emotional, Occupational, and Physical.
- Facilitate group activities as noted on calendar of recreational activities; including discussion groups, culinary, craft, outings, etc.
- Communicates opportunities throughout facility to residents, staff and family members; encourages resident participation and involvement
- Perform other duties required.
QualificationsRelated Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience as an Activities- Fitness Specialist in a senior living environment, or in educational environment. Good organizational skills and flexibility required; may be responsible for evening and/or weekend activities.
Education or Degree Required:
- Bachelors of Science in Therapeutic Recreation
Licenses, Certifications Registrations:
- CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist)
Registrations:
- National Council for Therapeutic Recreations, American Therapeutic Recreation Association
