Santa Anita Convalescent Hospital is looking for a 2 full-time Activity Aides bilingual preferred in Spanish/Chinese/Manderin/Vietmanese!
Schedule: Must be able to work 8:30AM-5:00PM on a 4:2 work rotation which is 4 days on & two days off and then it repeats.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the assisting in planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational social, intellectual emotional and spiritual programs in accordance with the residents assessment and interests in a Skilled Nursing setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ensures that all residents are treated fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respect, and their rights are protected at all times.
- Respects and upholds all residents personal and property rights whenever carrying out duties, including knocking before entering a resident's room.
- Complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Assists and/or conducts assigned group or one-to-one activity programs according to calendar.
- Moves and arranges equipment/supplies to assure that activity areas are ready for scheduled activity.
- Assists residents move to and from activity programs as needed.
- Is responsible for assisting all activity department materials to their proper place in a timely manner and maintaining a tidy, pleasant atmosphere in activity room.
- Responsible for developing schedule for activities, distributes monthly activity calendars to residents,and posts changes to calendar according to state and federal regulations.
- Responsible for documentation duties as required and in accordance with Company policies and procedures and government regulations. Ensures documentation is accurate, informative and descriptive of the resident's condition, care provided and resident's response to care.
- Observes residents mood, behavior, degree of involvement and response to activity and alerts supervisor or clinical staff as needed.
- Assists residents who are confined to bed by visiting with them, writing letters, running errands, making appointments, etc., as necessary.
- Makes recommendations to Adminstration for new activity programs.
- May participate in meetings with resident/family.
- Provides adapted material for impaired residents to ensure maximum participation in activities. Alerts Adminstrator for the need of additional adaptive devices to enhance participation.
- Schedules movies, plans parties and provides games for residents.
- Encourages hobbies and provides materials in keeping with residents financial status and department budget.
- Encourages residents to participate in religious activities through religious services, reading material, visits with chaplains, etc., to fulfill their basic religious needs.
- May participate in discharge planning.
- Reports the following in accordance with established facility procedures and regulatory standards: accidents and incidents; resident grievances, complaints, allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property; occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals; concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance including but not limited to hazardous conditions and equipment.
- Adheres to state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures; HIPAA confidentiality standards of resident and facility information; Infection Control, Universal Precautions, OSHA and safety standards; and established safety precautions and regulations (including use of mechanical lifts when lifting or moving heavy individuals or objects) in the performance of tasks and the use of equipment and supplies.
- Maintains safe and clean work area.
- Attends orientation, in services and meetings as required. Participates in OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazardous communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens standard.
- Takes responsibility for staying updated on new regulations, best practices and internal policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of facility and departmental quality improvement activities. Recommends to Supervisor any equipment and supplies needed for the department as well as any departmental improvements.
- Utilizes most efficient, safe and cost effective techniques and methods, and uses supplies and equipment in most efficient manner to minimize waste.
- Participates in and assists in departmental studies and projects as required.
- May perform administrative duties such as completing forms, reports, etc., and submit to Supervisor as necessary.
- Works with facility consultants as necessary and implements recommendations as required.
- Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-2 years experience in related position, in healthcare environment preferred
- Aptitude for and/or some training in arts and crafts required
