Job Description:
Position Objective: Under the direct supervision of the Activity Coordinator, provide appropriate leisure and social activities to all program participants within the facility and the community in accordance with individual strengths, interest and preferences. Provide personal assistance, instruction, assessment, and overall supervision of individuals. Provide on-going volunteer experiences for individuals in day training. Will follow Rule 50, Dept. of Human Services Rule 115, Rule 116, Rule 119, Rule 120, and other relevant regulatory guidelines.Essential Duties/ResponsibilitiesMission, Vision, Values
  • To support the philosophy through the agency's mission, vision, values and strategic plan.
  • Manage all responsibilities based on the agency mission, using individual choice and all appropriate policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • To conduct oneself in a manner that reflects the highest standards of professional courtesy and ethical practices to people served, staff, guardians, families, and all outside contacts.
  • Assistance to (if appropriate) - Activity Coordinator Staff Supervision (if appropriate) - Not applicable
  • In conjunction with the HR department, interview, hire, supervise, assign, evaluate the performance of, and when necessary, discharge assigned personnel directly and in cooperation with appropriate department heads.
  • Program/Department Development and Coordination Instruct, train, assess, guide, support, and supervise individuals.
  • Assist in assessing individual strengths, interests, likes and dislikes using formal and informal methods.
  • When necessary, assist individuals with personal needs such as transferring, toileting, eating, and/or grooming.
  • Utilize job/task analyses and/or behavior management techniques when applicable to train individuals on assigned tasks.
  • As applicable, provide transportation to persons served.
  • Coordinate and plan special activities in the community and bring the community to EP!C for experiences to our individuals.
  • Maintain records in compliance with Agency standards and those established by the Department of Human Services, Public Health, and other licensing and accrediting organizations.
  • Document information regarding monthly activities in accordance with prescribed guidelines/schedules.
  • Provide input regarding service plan development to ensure that individual preferences and interests are recognized.
  • Act as a positive role model for all individuals at all times.
  • Oversee any volunteers, interns or other outside parties assigned to the program.
  • Participate in departmental or agency in-service training and continuing education programs to improve skills required of the position.
  • Complete other projects/duties as assigned.
  • Fiscal Management
  • Recommend and follow established cost effective guidelines for the purchase of necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Marginal Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • As a mandated reporter ensures all allegations, abuse, and neglect are reported as required.
  • Education/Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License or State ID.
  • Must be willing to transport individuals in own vehicle if needed.
  • Must be able to perform CPR/First Aid.

  • Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking and sitting.
  • Regular reaching, grasping, and standing.
  • Other physical activities related to an office environment.
  • Operates general office equipment, including multi-line phone, fax machine, printer, copier, and personal computer.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Work Environment
  • Work may occur in the following settings: Home, Office, Classroom, Site, Group Homes, Industrial Settings or Community.
