We are seeking a dedicated Activities Director to assist with developing and implementing all recreational services in our facility with the goal of improving the patient/resident's quality of life. The Activities Director is part of the leadership team and highly visible with a direct reporting relationship to the Administrator.
Responsibilities:
Completes assessments, MDS, care plans and gathers information to design activities that are multi-faceted, meet patients functional levels, and reflects needs and interests of each patient.
Provides patients who are confined or chose to remain in their rooms with in-room activities in keeping with life-long interests, (music, reading, visits with individuals who share their interests or reasonable attempts to connect the patient with such individuals) and in-room projects they can work on individually.
Assists with escorting patients to and from daily activities.
Travels on outings with the residents.
Provides orientation, training and responsibilities to the staff of the activities department.
Maintains sufficient activity supplies.
Coordinates Resident Council.
Posts monthly activities calendars that reflect the schedules, choices and rights of the patients; offers activities at hours convenient to the patients; reflects the cultural and religious interests of the resident population; appeals to both men and women and all age groups living in the facility.
Must be creative and hard working, have a passion to love and have patience with the elderly.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in therapeutic recreation preferred or completion of NAAP/NCCAP Basic and Advanced Management Course for Activity Professionals
Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals (ADC) or the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS)
Two years' experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, health care setting preferred
