Sea View Hospital and Rehabilitation Center and Home is a 304-bed long term care facility located in Staten Island's lush Greenbelt. Serving the metropolitan area, it is easily accessible from all points by car and bus. Like many HHC facilities, Sea View has a long history. It opened its doors in 1913 as a sanitarium treating individuals suffering from the most feared disease of the time, tuberculosis. Today, the hospital is well-known for its long-term care brain injury unit, the first in New York State. Participates in the research, planning and implementation of person centered therapeutic recreational programming based on individual customary routines, practices, current needs and leisure interests. . Participates and collaborates with members of the treatment team, family members, to implement effective TR interventions on a daily basis. Assesses specific TR needs of residents and documents in PCC via CCP, progress notes, Quarterly/annual reports, MDS. Reviews and audits department documentation in PCC on a daily/weekly basis. Coordinates TR programming in accordance with resident needs and leisure interests. Evaluates the daily functioning of TR programming both individual and groups. Teach new techniques, interventions to department staff to apply in individual and/or group programming.Maintains functional operational level of equipment, supplies and work areas. Assists with required committee/performance improvement projects, Palliative Care Planning, fall prevention, behavior; depression, anxiety, pain intervention planning. May conduct in service training within their area of expertise.Minimum Qualifications1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 18 credits in recreation, physical education, dance, fine arts, applied arts (including therapy) and 12 credits in psychology, social psychology, group work, group dynamics and/or related field: Or2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and one year of full-time experience in planning, coordinating and supervising a recreation activities program in a hospital, health care or related facility; Or3. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above.
