Location: Chicago, ILHospital: RUSH University Medical CenterDepartment: Cancer SL - PS Onc ClinicWork Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0)Shift: Shift 1 Work Schedule: 8 Hr (8:00:00 AM - 5:00:00 PM)Summary:Reporting to the Rush Supportive Oncology Manager of Integrative Medicine, the Licensed Acupuncturist (LAc) will provide Chinese medicine for patients receiving care at the Rush Cancer Center. The LA is familiar with evidence-based acupuncture practices for the oncology opulation; utilizes knowledge of Oriental medicine theory, principles, techniques/methods, and pattern diagnosis to provide safe and high quality of care for each individual patient; and perform designated duties consistent with their scope of practice. The LAc will demonstrate the highest level of personal and professional commitment, enthusiasm, and integrity in representing Supportive Oncology within Rush and will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. Other information:Position Qualifications Include: Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) degree. Certification by the National Certification Commission of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Current licensure as Licensed Acupuncturist (LAC) by state of Illinois state licensing board. Clean Needle Technique (CNT) certification by Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM). Post-graduate training in acupuncture oncology Three years of experience in a clinical setting.Responsibilities: Provides safe, effective, and tailored acupuncture for Rush Cancer center patients. Develops appropriate treatment plan based on the patient's goals, a review of their health history, and information gathered from the patient's health care team. Updates treatment plan based on the patient's response to intervention. Demonstrates timely adjustments based on changes in patient status and/or needs - including, but not limited to, contraindications and precautions. Completes timely documentation (e.g., within 24 hours) of patient encounters, using effective medical terminology in SOAP note format, in the electronic medical record according to standards outlined by Rush University Medical Center. Creates and maintains a comfortable, safe, and clean therapeutic environment. Demonstrates self-directed, compassionate, and professional bedside manner. Performs clinical tasks (e.g., responding to MyChart messages, phone calls) in a timely manner. Works independently, with minimal supervision. Communicates positively & professionally with all medical colleagues, patients, and their caregivers. Refers and maintains appropriate correspondence with other providers as needed. Attends and completes all training, events, and meetings as assigned by Manager of Integrative Medicine. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of each patient in accordance with HIPAA policies. Collaborates in data collection as appropriate. Maintain clean needle technique (CNT) in all treatments in accordance with Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) certification.Rush is an equal opportunity employer.
