Job Summary: The Acute Pain Service Advanced Practice Provider will serve as a Full Time APP to provide care to patients at SUNY Upstate Downtown Campus. The Acute Pain Service APP will provide Inpatient Consult and follow up services. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Provide expert level clinical care by assessing and evaluating patients.
- Coordination of care via a full range of services that will improve quality of patient care.
- Ordering appropriate laboratory testing and diagnostic studies.
- Arrange for referrals, testing, consultation, and therapeutic services.
- Maintaining outstanding relationships with families, referring physicians and all members of the health care team.
SUNY Upstate APP's care for patients, families and the community through assessment, planning, prescribing and evaluation interventions. An APP is a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team who demonstrates professionalism and leadership within the institution and exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required. Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice also required. Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire. CPR-BLS and ACLS Certification required at the time of appointment. Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
Preferred Qualifications: 1-2 years of Inpatient pain management or Inpatient medicine is preferred
Work Days: Full-time Monday-Friday, Day shift hours, with possible rotation into weekends and holidays.
