Job Summary
The ADA Administrator ensure adequate accessibility options in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for both on-campus and online students. This position also manages Service Animal and Emotional Support Animal registration and compliance, and manages removal from the meal plan requests.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure ADA compliance and keep up-to-date on federal and state guidelines and regulations, particularly as they pertain to Iowa small colleges; manage MS Form for this function.
2. Work closely with faculty, Housing Office, and others to implement accommodation policies in support of students with special needs, including academic, medical, and service/emotional support animal needs.
3. Notify professors one week prior to class if they have students who need specific accommodations, what the accommodations are, and getting support services in place, as needed.
4. Participate in conferences, webinars, and professional training to stay current on best practices in the field.
5. Approve Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals (ESA) for on-campus students according to government regulations; manage MS Form for this function.
6. Inform students who have Service Animals or ESAs of the on-campus regulations regarding having an animal, print and deliver door notices to students, and perform room inspections each semester to be sure guidelines are followed.
7. Approve removal from the MIU Meal Plan when requested by students with a medical condition; manage MS Form for this function.
8. Notify the appropriate department when a student is removed from the meal plan so the proper financial adjustments can be made.
9. Remove the student from active status in Atrium.
10. Assist in Student Life with Atrium and Student ID Badges, as needed.
Job Qualifications
* BA degree
* Warm and friendly with a natural customer service orientation.
* Computer and social media literate, familiarity with Microsoft Office and web browsers.
* Ability to create, maintain, and manage Microsoft Office Forms.
* Functional knowledge of ADA accommodations and features available for Canvas students.
* Ability to multitask while maintaining focus in a dynamic office environment.
* Alert and attentive to detail.
* Strong communicator and quick responder.
