Job Description:
General Purpose:The main purpose of the Prepared Foods Assistant Manager is to assist the Manager in all areas, including scheduling, inventory, maintenance, employee reviews, menu and catering planning, and merchandising. FLSA Status: Non-exempt Job Description:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a customer friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging customers, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and assisting customers with questions
  • Open and close salad bar and hot case as necessary according to procedures
  • Fill in on hotline as needed
  • Assist in annual inventory
  • Assist in ordering supplies for the department, both perishable and non-perishable items
  • Keep all areas of the department clean & organized - sales floor, counters, cases, coolers, prep area, ovens, hoods, storage areas & equipment
  • Attend meetings and check email in manager's absence
  • Be certified in Food Safety
  • Keep all products appropriately stocked, merchandised, signed and labeled
  • Assist in scheduling and training personnel in the department
  • Assist in planning menus, holiday platters, specialty platters and custom orders
  • Rotate products, wash pans, clean inside salad bar
  • Prepare salads according to recipe
  • Refill products according to freshness guideline
  • Restock daily product amounts as production flow demands
  • Purchase/transfer products of quality & freshness to be used in restocking
  • Prepare products for catering events, holidays, special events
  • Work with advertising to develop and promote sale items
  • Assist in the putting away of all deliveries
Physical Requirements:
  • Use machinery in department
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Use chemicals for cleaning
  • Clean equipment daily/weekly
  • Use & handle garbage compactor
  • Use cardboard crusher
  • Sweeping, mopping, general cleaning
  • Work with raw food products
  • Work weekends
Mental/Reasoning Requirements:
  • Cooperate with other departments in order to have a smooth running store
  • Ability to keep a level head at all times, even during transition from average business flow to very heavy business
  • Ability to communicate with employees and customers
  • Ability to read, count and write accurately to complete all orders, inventory and paper work
  • Ability to use critical thinking processes to calmly solve problems, handle conflicts and serve the customer
  • Use a scale labeling system
  • Understand basic measurement
  • Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and managers
