We are seeking a Data Center Operations Subject Matter Expert that will be responsible for liaising between the service team owners that run the suite of AWS tools that enable our customers to leverage cloud technology in ways that no other company does and our Data Center Operations teams on the ground that care and feed the hardware that makes this possible. This candidate will be working on changing the face of Cloud technology in the region. This role is based in the National Capitol Region.

As a Data Center Operations (DCO) Subject Matter Expert you will work as a force multiplier for the Operations team, whose primary responsibility is the running and maintaining of DCO projects, maintenance, and upkeep of the datacenter. Our ideal candidate possesses a natural curiosity, sharp analytical skills, a self-driven approach to identifying work and implementing solutions, and is excited to pioneer on behalf of customers. This role requires hands-on project management skills, deep technical expertise, and excellent leadership skills. You will be responsible for collecting business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, working with other organizations to drive systemic issue resolution, liaising with service teams and driving project schedules. You will also be responsible for setting project management standards and delivering large, cross functional projects across the Amazon dedicated cloud environment. You will apply both business and technical acumen in a fast-paced, ambiguous and innovative environment.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Key job responsibilities

* Apply project management methodology to manage scope, plan work, coordinate resource deployment on tasks, analyze risks/develop mitigation strategies and proactively identify and resolve issues.

* Own goals involving cross functional projects and stakeholder management.

* Solve customer projects by applying technical and problem solving skills.

* Provide leadership and perspective, and drive stakeholders to decisions in ambiguous situations.

* Apply continuous improvement methodologies to analyze and understand existing processes and workflows.

* Develop and manage detailed program schedules and report weekly progress and risks to senior leadership teams across multiple sites and functions.

* Participate in team meetings for metric analysis and daily/weekly goals achievement.

* Contribute to the development of other team members.

* Confident working in a Linux and CLI environment, and working with pre-written network configurations.

* Help define metrics to increase our customer uptime

* Enforcing Amazons Security Best Practices

* Interact with third party vendors & contractors

* Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency

* Engage with service owners and close communication gaps with DCO teams across the ADC organization

* Share knowledge and help educate less technical staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in I.T. Related field or equivalent military experience

- 2+ years of hand-on experience with server hardware

- 2+ years of project management experience

- Current, active US Government Security Clearance TS/SCI with Polygraph

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience troubleshooting all levels of the OSI model

- Previous experience working in a Data Center environment and understanding of Linux/Unix Administration

- Experience in large scale DC or equivalently complex troubleshooting and maintenance practices

- Root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving experience

- Ability to understand & communicate high level technical solutions

- Data Center, System Engineering, or Networking engineering background and demonstrated excellence.

- Experience in operating in large scale, mission critical, 24x7 operational environments
